This just in... On February 1st, approximately 200 healthcare workers in Northern California voted to leave SEIU-UHW and work without a union. Tasty hears that the NLRB's final vote count was 93 ("No Union") to 77 (SEIU-UHW). The workers had been part of SEIU-UHW for many years, but complained that
Dave Regan and Co provided zero support to the union's members. Here's the
decertification petition that workers filed in December to request this week's election.
The workers are employed by
O'Connor Woods, a retirement facility and nursing home in Stockton that's connected to
Catholic Healthcare West. They include Certified Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Attendants, Housekeepers, Dietary Workers, Maintenance Workers and others.
