SEIU-UHW and the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions are STILL not giving copies of their tentative agreements with Kaiser Permanente to union members! And get this: SEIU-UHW officials will begin a series of membership votes to "ratify" the agreements in just 36 hours.
Luckily, NUHW got ahold of the tentative agreements and has posted them on NUHW's website! Thanks, NUHW!
Tasty has re-posted the tentative agreements below, including notes (in red ink) that were made by NUHW. It's not clear if these are ALL of the agreements signed by SEIU and the Coalition -- neither John August nor Dave Regan have released an official copy of the agreements.
So what's in the tentative agreements? Here's a zinger that Dave Regan and Steve Trossman somehow forgot to mention in their leaflets and press releases about the deal: SEIU-UHW officials agreed to start charging their 43,000 members a "Partnership Tax" of 9 cents for every hour that they work. The tax -- which is above and beyond Kaiser workers' regular union dues -- will be used to fund the operations of the "Labor Management Partnership." When you tally up the tax across SEIU-UHW's 43,000 members at Kaiser, they'll soon be paying more than $6 million a year in taxes to the Partnership! And for what? Good question.
Interestingly, the agreements don't have any "side letters." And we all know
that SEIU loves signing "side letters" ... like the one from Regan's
2010 negotiations with Kaiser that created a "Health Benefits Committee"
to cut workers' health benefits in the middle of the contract. More recently, SEIU-UHW officials
signed this "side letter" with the Daughters of Charity Health System to
slash workers' pensions and health benefits. If anyone finds any "side letters" lying around, please send them to Tasty ASAP!
What else is in the deal? Check out the agreements for yourself.
