That’s a question that readers are asking about SEIU’s Mitch Ackerman.
In 2009, Andy Stern
appointed Ackerman as one of SEIU’s six “Executive Vice Presidents” -- the
highest positions inside the Purple Palace after SEIU’s President and
Secretary-Treasurer.
Last week, SEIU issued press releases announcing that “delegates”
who were sent to an SEIU convention in Denver had “unanimously” elected
President Mary Kay Henry and her crew of six EVPs to four more years in office.
Interestingly, Ackerman was missing from the list.
So where's Mitch? Did Mary Kay Henry kick him downstairs? Or did she kick him all the way to the curb? (Here’s Tasty’s earlier report
about Mary Kay’s efforts to marginalize Mitch.)
Wherever Mitch is, he couldn’t have gone too far. A reader
points out that Ackerman used his fat-cat SEIU salary of $300,000 a year to buy
a fancy house in a Washington, DC suburb for $735,000. Here’s a record of his real-estate purchase (click to enlarge):
And here’s the record of Ackerman’s $300,000 salary:
Looks like Mitch pocketed quite a bundle of cash during his amazing road trip to DC, just like Wall Street Dave Regan.
Hmm.... kinda strange that SEIU is paying huge salaries to its officials at the same time that it's criticizing the 1%. A reader put it this way: “Don’t know how Mitch, Dave and their pals can blabber
against the 1%ers – being they're at that status themselves!”
