Mary Kay and the CHA

It looks like SEIU President Mary Kay Henry is also a big fan of the California Hospital Association.

At SEIU's recent convention in Denver, Henry circulated a list of the candidates whom she backed for seats on SEIU's International Executive Board -- her so-called "Team Henry 2012."

Check out how she described one of the members of her team, Dave Regan, and his "historic agreement with the California Hospital Association."

Hmmm... It's not a promising sign for workers when top SEIU officials describe their chummy relationship with the "Chamber of Commerce" of California's hospital corporations as a selling point during the union's internal officer elections. After all, the CHA has fought workers, attacked safe-staffing laws, and even spent millions to sue the State of California in an unsuccessful attempt to block implementation of California's first-in-the-nation nurse-to-patient ratio law.

SEIU's RNs hd better keep a careful eye on their so-called leaders. Tasty wouldn't be surprised if Mary Kay Henry joins CEO Duane Dauner at a press conference near you to announce their "visionary" effort to roll back nurse-to-patient staffing ratios.

P.S.  Here's the full document listing Henry's "VP" candidates for SEIU's International Executive Board.
