Staffer Files NLRB Charge against Regan & Co.

Remember this email from an SEIU staffer about all the craziness inside SEIU-UHW, including mental breakdowns by staffers and firings by SEIU officials? Well, check out this NLRB charge recently filed by an SEIU-UHW staffperson against Dave Regan & Co.

In 2010, Saliem Aregaye was an SEIU “Organizer in Traning” when SEIU sent her to work on the SEIU-UHW trusteeship. Last month, she filed charges with the NLRB saying SEIU officials threatened her and then fired her after she began talking about going to the NLRB because of the unfair working conditions at SEIU-UHW.

Her NLRB charge focuses special attention on Myriam Escamilla, the director of SEIU-UHW’s Nursing Home Division, and Susie Miranda. Tasty hears that Escamilla has a reputation of bullying and screaming at staffers.

Ironically, it appears that Escamilla is the one who deserves some screaming at. She’s the one who forgot to file a ULP charge against an assisted living facility in Oakland before the facility’s 160 workers went out on strike last year. Escamilla’s mistake gave the company an opportunity to lock out 38 workers for months and months.

Fortunately for Escamilla, she happens to be the ex-wife of Greg Pullman, SEIU-UHW’s Chief of Staff, so she’s reportedly untouchable despite all of the problems inside SEIU-UHW’s nursing home division. Perhaps Aregaye's NLRB charge will help Escamilla remember a thing or two about labor law...
